South Carolina announcing first flu death of the season

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced they have been notified of the state's first flu-associated death of the season.

Doctors at GRU are recommending everyone take preventative measures by getting a flu shot, washing hands and looking out for flu symptoms.

Some of the symptoms doctors say to look out for are fever, dry cough, headache, muscle aches, tiredness, sore throat, and nasal congestion or stuffiness.

The CDC said 9,000 people in the United States have been in the hospital so far this year due to the flu.
