Georgia sales tax holiday begins this weekend

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Saving money and energy couldn't be easier this upcoming weekend.

Oct 3rd - 5th marks Georgia's annual sales tax holiday.

During these 3 days, Georgians looking to buy Energy Star and WaterSense products will be exempt from paying state and local sales tax on items $1500 or less.

Those household items will include appliances like refrigerators, air conditioners and dishwashers.

But also smaller items like florescent light bulbs and programmable light bulbs are on the list.

The WaterSense list includes bathroom sink faucets and accessories, high-efficiency toilets, high-efficiency urinals, shower heads, water- or sensor-based irrigation controllers.

These products are intended to save on power or water, or both.
