Report ranks Swainsboro as one of Georgia's most dangerous cities

SWAINSBORO, GA (WFXG) -

Swainsboro is the third-most dangerous city in Georgia, according to a report released by Home Security Shield.

The "20 Most Dangerous Cities in Georgia", based on the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report, ranks cities based on the violent crime rate. Swainsboro has a violent crime rate of 17.7 per 1,000 residents.

Although the list ranks cities based on the violent crime rates, it also includes property crime rates.

Swainsboro has a property crime rate of 91.89 per 1,000 residents, according to the report. With property and violent crimes combined, the crime rate is 109.58 per 1,000 residents.

There's a one in nine chance someone in Swainsboro will become a victim of crime, according to the report.

The number one most dangerous city on the list? College Park. The city has a violent crime rate of 20.19 per 1,000 residents.

Georgia's capital, Atlanta, came in at number five on the list, with a violent crime rate of 13.79 per 1,000 residents.
