MCDUFFIE COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - Georgia State Patrol has identified the man who was hit and killed on I-20 near the Thomson exit Sunday night.
Gary Morris, 63, was driving behind a sanitation truck and ran over a piece of fallen debris, GSP said. Around 8:30 p.m., Morris' car became disabled and he got out and stood on the side of the road.
A tractor-trailer traveling eastbound hit Morris while he stood in the road, GSP said.
Morris was airlifted to the hospital, but later died from his injuries, GSP said.
The tractor-trailer also hit another vehicle on the shoulder of I-20. According to officials, there were no other injuries.
Charges are pending in the case as the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team investigates the accident.
