Produce truck crash in Columbia County

COLUMBIA COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

A wreck on I-20 early Sunday morning injured two people and caused a major traffic back up.

Columbia County Officials said a car crashed into a produce truck around 4:00 a.m. in the eastbound lane of I-20.

Officials say Raymond Scott was driving his car when he changed lanes and ran into the truck. The driver of the produce truck, Gurpreet Singh, hit the brakes and swerved left into the median. The truck rolled over and came to a stop after hitting the median arresting cables, according to officials.

Officials said Scott's car was run over by the back wheels of the truck and came out on the south side.

Officials said Scott smelled strongly of alcohol and had an open container in the car.

Both the passenger and the driver of the produce truck were injured. Gupreet's right ear was separated and had a spine fracture. The passenger, Hardeet Singh, suffered a face fracture.

Charges against Scott are pending and officials are still waiting on the results from the blood test.
