AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - The Salvation Army of Augusta will host the last auto auction of the year on Saturday, Oct. 4 at The Salvation Army Center of Hope located at 1384 Greene Street.
Preview days are Wednesday, Oct. 1 through Friday, Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Salvation Army encourages people to visit during the preview days because it's the only time they'll be able to inspect the vehicles by cranking them, looking under the hood, etc.
The auction begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday. In order to bid on a vehicle, you must register. Registration is open on preview days, and from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on auction day.
You can also register online and view current inventory at www.SalvationArmyCars.com. The registration fee is $5 regardless of registration method.
More than 50 vehicles are currently ready for auction, including three RVs, five boats, and a full-size bus. The auction will include many family friendly vehicles, such as a 2003 Cadillac DeVille with 12,000 miles and a 1997 Mercedes Benz.
A single-owner 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle in pristine condition with only 58,000 miles is also up for auction.
Andy Jones of Gerald Jones Auto Group recently donated seven vehicles to the auto auction – ranging from a 1996 Honda Accord to a 2004 Saturn Ion, organizers said.
The Salvation Army Auto Auction is held quarterly and is one of the organization's largest fundraisers. Proceeds from the auction directly support social services for those in need throughout the greater Augusta area. Programs, such as the free drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, emergency shelter, soup line and job skills training will benefit from the money raised.
