Some Georgia residents will be looking for ways to earn extra money to make ends meet during the upcoming holiday season, a recent survey shows.

Nearly half of respondents in a survey conducted by Georgia Credit Union Affiliates said they will try to make extra money for the holidays.

About 24 percent said they hope to make more than $1,000. Why so much? The average U.S. household in 2013 spend about $740 on holiday shopping, according to Gallup.com.

Consumers in Georgia will earn cash in the following ways, according to the Georgia Credit Union Affiliates survey:

  • Landing a seasonal job
  • Working overtime
  • Selling items online
  • Holding garage sales
  • Conducting personal services, such as house cleaning or babysitting
