Murder suspect arrested in 2nd Avenue shooting

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

A 25-year-old man is facing charges in connection with the shooting death of another man on Second Avenue Friday, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Gregory Dartrell Patterson of Haynie Drive turned himself in to the sheriff's office around 8 a.m. Monday, deputies said. He is charged with murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Patterson is accused of shooting and killing 34-year-old Anthony Walker just before 5 a.m. Friday on the 1900 block of Second Avenue, according to the sheriff's office.

Walker was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
