AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Crews have removed a car that was found in a south Augusta pond earlier this morning.

A wrecker pulled the 2001 Cadillac Deville out of the Mayor's Fishing Hole off Lock and Dam Road around 2 p.m. There was nobody inside the car when it came out of the water.

Richmond County dispatch received a call around 10:15 a.m. about the car in the water.

Witnesses said they saw the car floating in the water this morning. Deputies said their next step is to find out who the car belongs to.

"We're actually going to try to locate the owner and family members," Lt. Robbie Silas said," just to see what the next step is."

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office, Augusta Fire Department, EMS, a dive team and DNR were on scene.
