PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Arizona Department of Public Safety officers are still trying to determine why a woman led DPS officers on a high-speed chase on Interstate 10 on Monday night.

The woman started the pursuit early in the evening with Phoenix police giving chase on eastbound I-10 at Seventh Street, a DPS spokesman said.

DPS officers took over the chase near 48th Street and followed her into Pinal County before she was stopped and arrested, the spokesman said.

The 47-year-old woman was taken to a hospital and was expected to be booked into jail after her release, DPS spokesman Raul Garcia said.

Officers had not determined what caused her to flee and a criminal investigation was continuing, Garcia said.

No other information was available.
