Auberles Employment Institute Impacts Youth Workforce

McKeesport, PA (PRWEB) September 02, 2014

On Tuesday Sept. 16, Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) officials will make a one-hour stop at Auberles main campus at 12:45 p.m. on a tour through the state to learn more about programs making an impact on the economic climate of our communities. Auberle was chosen for its outcomes-focused work through its workforce development program, the Employment Institute.

Officials attending include Deputy Secretary for Workforce Development of the Pa. Department of Labor & Industry Michelle Stanton, Executive Director of the Governors Center for Local Government Services Peter Zug, Special Assistant for DCED Secretary Allen Walker/Deputy Secretary for Community Development Mike Cortez, Local Government Specialist Mike Foreman, Manager of Planning for DCED Denny Puko, and DCED Regional Director Albert DAlessandro.

Our unique relationships with businesses that provide funding and hire our youth, has resulted in high outcomes and potential for replicability in other communities and settings, said Auberle CEO John Lydon. We are honored to host the DCED to show them firsthand the impact Auberles Employment Institute has on at-risk youth. In addition, the Pa. Secretary of Corrections, the Pa. Secretary of Labor and Industry and the Chief U.S. Probation Officer have recently toured Auberle with an interest in our model.

DCED and community members will have the opportunity to hear testimony from Auberle youth on what they have accomplished. McKeesport Mayor Cherepko will also be in attendance to discuss McKeesports Plan, which was supported by the DCEDs Early Intervention Program grant. The DCED supports the Employment Institute through the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and tax credits through the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP).
