AIKEN, SC (WFXG) -

A running program in Aiken offers elementary-aged children the chance to run a marathon over the course of two months.

Registration for the Kids' Marathon is open through Sept. 30.

The children will run 1 mile per day up to five times per week. They'll track those miles on a log sheet.

A grand finale Fun Run will be held at the Weeks Center Track at 9 a.m. on Nov. 1. The 1.2-mile run will complete the 26.2-mile marathon.

Children will receive a T-shirt, race number and finisher's medal just like a real marathoner.

Families can pre-register their child or children at the Weeks Center, located at 1700 Whiskey Rd. in Aiken or call 803-642-7631 for more information.
