Driver involved in police chase jailed after hospitalization

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The man police said led them on a chase through the streets of Huntsville Sunday night was released from the hospital and into their custody.

Chaunce Williams suffered critical injuries following the chase, which involved police deploying spike strips on Old Madison Pike. Two other people in his vehicle suffered minor injuries when the vehicle crashed into a construction site.

Police said they tried to stop his vehicle on Research Park Boulevard late Sunday night when he drove off.

Williams faces a list of charges including reckless endangerment, attempting to elude police, and driving with expired tags.

He is being held without bond in the Metro Jail due violation of his probation.
