AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Augusta commissioners voted unanimously Monday morning to have Ben Hasan fill the seat left vacant by Commissioner Joe Jackson.
Jackson resigned for personal reasons last week, leaving his District 6 seat empty.
Hasan was sworn in Monday immediately after the vote.
Commissioners also voted to approve a 1.75 mill increase in the millage rate. The vote was tied 5-5 among commissioners, but Mayor Deke Copenhaver broke the tie and voted in favor of the increase.
