Hit and Run connected to overturned cars on I-20

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Two overturned vehicles on I-20 are related to a hit and run that took place Friday afternoon in R9ichmond County.

According to authorities, at 4:45 p.m. the Richmond County Sheriff's Office Traffic Division responded to a hit and run near the Zaxby's in the 2800 block of Washington Rd.

While investigators were handling that incident, officials say they were then called to an accident on I-20 Westbound near Warren Rd. That's where investigators found two overturned vehicles.

According to authorities, one of the vehicles belonged to the suspect of the hit and run, twenty nine year old Daniel Gentry. Investigators found out Gentry hit the car at the incident on Washington Rd and then fled the scene at a high rate of speed, which is when he got on I-20 and caused another accident.

Gentry and the other victims were transported for medical treatment. Authorities say Gentry will possibly be charged with reckless driving, DUI, and driving with a suspended license after the investigation is completed.

Gentry is currently receiving treatment at GRU.

The investigation is still ongoing, and we will provide more details when we learn more.
