Two men arrested on drug charges during traffic stop

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Two people were arrested Wednesday afternoon after police found drugs during a traffic stop in Jonesboro.

According to the incident report, officers stopped a truck on Patrick Street, near Johnson Ave. Officer Blake Bristow said he knew the passenger, 33-year-old Thomas Jeffers of Jonesboro had been involved with the distribution of drugs, and appeared nervous during the stop.

While searching Jeffers, officers reportedly found marijuana, meth and a small pistol.

Officers also searched the truck, along with the driver, 42-year-old Gary Wheeler, of Pocahontas. According the report, officers found marijuana in the truck bed.

Both men were arrested.

Jeffers is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearm and possession of a firearm by certain persons.

Wheeler is charged with possession of a controlled substance.
