John Farr, M.D., has been named chief medical officer at Doctors Hospital.
Farr is a board-certified family physician who joins Doctors Hospital after serving 21 years in the U.S. Army. He was previously chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon.
"Dr. Farr's extensive medical experience and strong leadership skills make him highly qualified for this important position," said Doug Welch, president & CEO of Doctors Hospital. "He will help us tremendously in our continual efforts to provide high quality patient care."
Dr. Farr earned a bachelor's degree in biology from the Citadel and his doctor of medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. During his military career he served in Seoul, South Korea; Landstuhl, Germany; as well as here in Augusta at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
He also served in various operational and combat deployments to Bosnia, Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan. Farr and his wife, Julia, have two daughters.
