LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A man was arrested Thursday morning for leading Butler County police on a chase that resulted in a crash.

Deputies initiated a Liberty Township traffic stop around 3 a.m. for a Dodge truck driving on Hamilton Mason Road. The driver, 30-year-old Austin Zehenni, stopped the truck but took off once officers approached the vehicle, according to authorities.

Zehenni led police on an approximate one mile pursuit before striking two utility poles, the Butler County Sheriff's office says. He was ejected from the vehicle and suffered leg and head injuries.

Emergency crews transferred Zehenni to the hospital where his injuries are reportedly non-life threatening. He was issued a citation for OVI, driving under a child support suspension, seatbelt violation and failure to control.

Officials say the case remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.
