Butler County to hold job fair as social workers announce plan to strike

Butler County has scheduled a social services job fair following an announcement from Butler County Children Services workers that they plan to strike.

The County said Monday that they will hire 20 permanent workers and 40 temporary workers for positions including social service workers, family resource specialists and administrative assistants.

Butler County officials say they need to hire workers to fill the positions "to ensure the safety of children who depend on the protective services of the Butler County Children Services Department."

The Butler County Children Services union told the State Employment Relations Board that they plan to strike on Aug. 18.

The strike comes after 14 months of negotiations with the County over wages.

The job fair will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4631 Dixie Highway in the Fairfield Crossing Shopping Center.
