Dump truck takes down electrical lines in Hephzibah

HEPHZIBAH, GA (WFXG) -

Crews are still working to fix phone lines after a dump truck knocked them down Friday morning.

The truck was driving on Highway 88 in Hephzibah around 5 a.m. when the bed of the truck came up and got tangled in the wires. 

Power was out briefly and the road was temporarily closed, according to Hephzaibah police.

The driver of the truck was not seriously injured. 

AT&T workers are still repairing the phone lines that were knocked down, Hephzibah police said. The road may be partially closed during the process.

    Aiken Public Safety Officers responded to a working fire at 611 Hampton Ave at 7:56 PM. As they arrived, crews observed flames coming from the front room of the home. The fire extended into the attic of the residence. Crew members began extinguishing the fire immediately. Both residents were in the home when the fire started and were safely evacuated prior to Public Safety’s arrival.
