Columbia County approves SPLOST project list

Columbia County residents are set to vote on a new Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax package this November.

The SPLOST project list is expected to cost about $144 million.

Some of those include $19 million for the justice center renovations, $8 million for a new sheriff's office building, $9 million for a cultural arts center and museum and $30 million set aside for the new Columbia county hospital.

"It will be contingent upon what the Department of Community Health decides to do but if that project does not go then we also have $30 million of contingency projects, focusing primarily on recreation and community improvement and also additional public safety measures as well," said John Paul Stout, Special Projects Manager for Columbia County.

The elections will be held, Tuesday, November 4th.
