HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville police said a bag of blood was the targeted item of a robber at a mobile blood bank.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday as a LifeSouth mobile donation bus was parked at the 100 block of Providence Main Street.

A technician at the mobile blood bank told investigators a man came in to donate blood, then sat in his vehicle for awhile afterward.

A short time later, the technician said, the man came back, claiming he forgot his identification. Once inside, he picked up a bag of blood and attempted to exit the bus.

The technician tried to stop him by standing in the doorway, but the man shoved past her.

It is unclear whether the bag of blood was successfully taken. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made. Police are still investigating.

There is no way to fully avoid ticks during the summer time but luckily there are ways to minimize your exposure to ticks.

The best way to minimize exposure is to check for ticks whether that is checking your body, clothes, or pets. The use of insect repellant with twenty to thirty percent DEET can lower your chances of tick bites. It is also important to know where to expect ticks.
