Richmond County school board selects finalist for superintendent

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

The Richmond County Board of Education selected one finalist for the superintendent position Monday night.

That finalist is Dr. Angela Pringle, who is currently a regional superintendent in the Dekalb County School District.

Board members were expected to announce three candidates for the position, but after an hour-long executive session, they announced only one.

Board President Venus Cain said she is confident in Pringle's abilities.

"I think we have a good choice, and I need the community to support the board because this has been a long process for us," Cain said. "We didn't take it lightly, and we put a lot of work and time into it - reading all those applications and coming up with questions that we felt were important to not only just us but to the community as a whole."

The community will have 14 days, starting Tuesday, to ask questions about Pringle or address their concerns by contacting any school board member. Pringle will also have a second interview, although the date has not been set.

If the board does not hire Pringle, they will have to restart the search process.
