Fort Gordon celebrates Cyber School in ceremony, ribbon cutting

FORT GORDON, GA (WFXG) - The Army's Cyber Center of Excellence took one step forward Monday with Cyber and Signal formally splitting, with both still having an important role in the mission at Fort Gordon.

"This investment, and this home here at Fort Gordon will allow us to facilitate that evolution into this new war fighting domain," said Col. Jennifer Buckner.

She was tapped as the new Cyber commandant, and will oversee the hundreds of folks expected to come through the doors.

"It is a training hub," explained Col. Buckner. "So we will be having people come through here at various points in their careers. Beginning, middle, and as more senior officers and soldiers

But it's not only training that will happen inside these walls.

"I think it's that synergy of our training force and operational force that is really tremendous for Fort Gordon and the community," said Col. Buckner.

The Cyber Center of Excellence is expected to reach its full potential by 2016.
