AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

The Greater Augusta Arts Council is hosting the monthly First Friday celebration in downtown Augusta on Aug. 1.

The event, which will take place between 5 and 9 p.m., will feature several special events, including an art show, a performance from a local band, games and more. The event is free and open to the public.

Here's a complete list of special events:

The Augusta Visual Artists and The Book Tavern will present The "Book in a Box" Art Show. Twelve artists will be presenting works inspired by books. Artists get to keep 100 percent of the sale of their work and libations provided. 5 to 9 p.m. 936 Broad St.

Psychotronic Store will host "Earnest T. Bastards!," a local band that will play live music during the First Friday celebration. 5 p.m. at 859 Broad St.

The Clubhou.se will host its monthly HACK-A-THON, where teams spend four hours coming together to create solutions to problems. Team up with others to work on a project, or work on your project solo. The idea is to dedicate four hours of project time in an environment of like-minded individuals and at the end of the night you get to present your project to the group. The best project wins a prize! The event is free to the public, and drinks and pizza are provided for all those who sign up. 5 to 9 p.m. at 816 Broad St.

The Westabou Festival offices plan to have their "Shish Ka Bou" game set up at 5 p.m. and are giving away three free tickets to the Amos Brothers concert in October that will headline the Westabou Festival. To win the tickets, you have to be the first three people to play "Shish Ka Bou!" 5 to 9 p.m. at 965 Broad St.
