KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A Kansas City mom says her son got a concussion after riding the Timber Wolf roller coaster at Worlds of Fun.

Latoya Wilson said her 11-year-old son had to be rushed to the hospital after he hit his nose and face on the ride and suffered a bloody nose.

"He asked me all summer to go to Worlds of Fun," Wilson said.

She said her son, Dallas Collier, has been diagnosed with high-functioning autism. He likes to design roller coasters in his spare time, so she surprised him with a trip to the park Friday.

"I surprised him, and we went to World of Fun, and he decided to ride the Timber Wolf," Wilson said.

Wilson said she hates roller coasters but waited by the exit to the Timber Wolf for her son.

"I was descending the drop on the Timber Wolf, and I hit my head on the restraint," Dallas said. "It was shaking like rough, and I hit my nose again."

Dallas' mom saw her son come down from the ride by himself and he had blood on his shorts and a towel up to his face.

"I asked him what happened, and he said he hit his nose and his face on the lap bar the safety bar," Wilson said. "No one walked him down or escorted him or anything. He walked down by himself."

Wilson said a paramedic at the park told her Dallas was OK to ride other rides, but she wanted a second opinion and waited for a second paramedic for an hour before calling 911.

"I asked for an incident report and everyone said, 'No,'" Wilson said.

She is still upset because after taking her son to Children's Mercy Hospital, doctors said he had a concussion.

Wilson wants to warn others about the ride. The amusement park didn't respond to three requests about the story.

A rider died on the Timber Wolf at Worlds of Fun back in 1995. A 14-year-old girl fell 25 feet off the coaster. The amusement park settled with the girl's family out of court.
