A Columbia County man is charged with driving under the influence after deputies said he crashed into the side of a house in a neighborhood off Furys Ferry Road early Friday.
Steven Michael Drawdy, 21, was driving too fast in the neighborhood when he lost control going over a speed bump, deputies said. The vehicle began to roll, crossed a driveway and two lawns before crashing into a house on Hammonds Ferry Road around 1:45 a.m.
There were four passengers in Drawdy's vehicle, including the son of the homeowner, deputies said. The three people in the back were ejected.
Drawdy fled the scene but was returned by his mother, deputies said. He was arrested and is facing multiple authorities, according to Capt. Steve Morris with the Columbia County Sheriff's office.
"Drawdy was charged with multiple charges. DUI, driving too fast for conditions, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, driving on suspended license, and of course he left the scene of an accident. he's being held here at Columbia County Detention Center. There's also a hold on him with Clark County for a probation violation," Morris says.
The three people from the back seat were taken to the hospital and are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
