Nashville man charged with assault after striking officer

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Nashville man is accused of hurting a police officer who was trying to break up a fight during a domestic disturbance.

Police said Michael McKissack has been charged with assault after he punched a police officer during a struggle with a neighbor.

Police said McKissack was trying to attack the neighbor across the street from him when he ended up punching the officer.

McKissack crossed the street to try and fight the neighbor, who was in trouble for a domestic disturbance case, according to police.

When McKissack allegedly attempted to hit the neighbor, an officer held him back.

Instead of hitting the neighbor, police said McKissack hit the officer.
