NEWBERRY, SC (WFXG) - A South Carolina judge has ordered the release of several documents pertaining to the fight over the estate of James Brown.
Journalist Sue Summer had sued Attorney General Alan Wilson to get release of the diary of a woman who proclaimed to be the wife of Brown during his 2006 death, an appraisal of his assets, and other records.
According to the Associated Press, Wilson said he "shouldn't be forced to release the records because they are part of different lawsuits over Brown's estate."
According to Summer, the ruling has been stayed while Wilson asks the judge to reconsider.
Summer maintains that Brown's dying wish was for underprivileged children to receive scholarships from his estate.
