LINCOLN COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - A man is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds after the victim says a simple conversation escalated to an attempted robbery.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened at 1016 Kent St. around 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Christopher Jones and the suspect, known only as "Troy", were talking in his house, and that's when things turned violent.
Jones told deputies he was talking with the suspect in the back room of his house when the suspect pulled out a handgun and tried to rob him. Jones pushed him off, which is when the suspect started firing, hitting Jones in the left hand and thigh.
Jones was taken to GRU and is expected to be okay.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is still looking for the shooter, and say he was driving a maroon four door vehicle, possibly of a Nissan make. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 706-821-1080, and all calls can be anonymous.
