TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo Police are working with the FBI to find a man who attempted to rob a bank and another business in south Toledo Tuesday afternoon.

Officers received a call just after 4:40 p.m. Tuesday that the Fifth Third bank at Byrne and Glendale was robbed.

With the help of surveillance images, police have identified the suspect as Thomas Swert. Swert is 5'8" and weighs approximately 170 pounds. He currently has two open robbery warrants.

According to police, Swert walked into the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The teller didn't give him anything, and the suspect fled. A few minutes later, he went into the Rite Aid nearby and demanded money from the clerk. Again, Swert fled empty-handed.

Police say Swert never showed a weapon, but people who live in the area say it's still scary.

"It frightens me," said Karen Shaffer. "Because, you know, this happened in broad daylight."

"I didn't think that would happen around here. I thought it was a pretty decent neighborhood," said Donovan Page, another resident. "I think it's very important that they try to find him, because he's not going to stop until he's caught, probably."

Police have released photos of Swert from surveillance video at the bank, as well as a past mugshot. Anyone with information on who this man is should contact police at 419-245-3142 or Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
