LINCOLN COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - An overnight car chase leads to Richmond County deputies finding drugs on the driver.
Deputies saw a car with a dark window tint driving on Wheeler Road just after midnight Tuesday, according to an incident report. The deputy activated his blue lights, and the driver kept going down Wheeler Road.
The driver kept speeding up, reaching speeds of 75 mph, and ran a red light while driving down Wheeler Road.
The driver continued to flee from the deputy even after he turned on the sirens and lights to the police car. The driver eventually came to a stop on Blount Avenue and got out of his car and started running.
The deputy chased after the driver and used his stun gun on the driver. The driver was identified as Emmett Robinson. After searching Robinson, the deputy found 5.1 grams of marijuana in his front pocket.
Robinson was arrested and was charged with possession of marijuana, reckless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
