Driver runs red light, crashes into North Augusta officer's car

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WFXG) - A North Augusta officer is recovering from minor injuries after a driver crashed into his patrol car early Friday.

Officer Andrew Harris was driving on Georgia Avenue around 3:40 a.m. when another car ran a red light on W. Five Notch Road and hit him, Lt. Tim Thornton with the North Augusta Department of Public Safety said.

The driver was cited for disregarding a traffic signal, Thornton said.

Harris was treated for some minor jaw injuries and chipped teeth, Thornton said. He should be back to work soon.
