Deputies: Man pointed gun at woman, threatened to kill her in front of child

An Evansville man is arrested on several charges including intimidation after a shots fired call.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the Casey`s General Store at 3100 N Saint Joseph Ave Thursday morning in reference to a report of "shots fired".

The sheriff's office says a witness told deputies that he had seen gunfire from a vehicle in the street.

Deputies say shell casing were found in the area.

Shortly after that, deputies were called to the 6100 block of Danville Drive for a report about a person armed with a gun. 

A woman at the scene told deputies that 23-year-old Tylorian Matthews had pointed a handgun at a her head and threatened to kill her in front of her child.

Deputies found Matthews nearby at a home in the 1900 block of Westbrook Drive. The sheriff's office says deputies also found a handgun under the wheel well of a vehicle at that location.

The sheriff's office says an examination of the handgun revealed that it had recently been fired.

Matthews was taken into custody on charges of Pointing a Firearm as a Class A Misdemeanor, Carrying a Handgun without a License as a Class A Misdemeanor and Intimidation with a Weapon as a Level 5 Felony.

The investigation is ongoing and the sheriff's office says additional charges and/or arrests are possible.
