AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - A Richmond County deputy is on administrative leave after a child in his home stunned another child with the deputy's stun gun, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
The child got hold of the off-duty patrol deputy's stun gun while adults were in the home, Capt. Calvin Chew said. The stun gun was accidentally discharged, striking another child.
The child was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center for treatment, Chew said.
The Internal Affairs Division of the sheriff's office is investigating. The deputy was placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
