Sixth-term Sheriff Joe Arpaio is on track to raise $12 million for his next campaign, according to his campaign committee.
The 82-year-old plans to run for re-election in 2016.
Nearly $900,000 has been raised since the beginning of 2014, amounting to $4.4 million in the last 16 months, according to the report filed Tuesday in Maricopa County.
When adding money raised for the general election and the first two weeks of June, the total is now more than $4.5 million, the report states.
In January 2015, Arpaio will be the longest serving elected sheriff in Maricopa County history, according to Arpaio's campaign manager Chad Willems.
