AIKEN, SC (WFXG) -

Aiken County deputies have arrested a suspect in a shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon on Pine Street near Maine Drive.

Dominique Roscelo Johnson, 24, is accused of shooting another man in the roadway in front of 525 Pine St., according to the sheriff's office.

Johnson surrendered to investigators at the Sheriff's Office around 4:46 pm today

Deputies responded around 3:40 p.m. and found a man lying in the road with a gunshot wound to the hip.

Witnesses and the victim told deputies that Johnson and the victim were arguing, according to the sheriff's office. When the victim tried to walk away, he was shot.

He was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center and is in stable condition.

Deputies said Johnson fled the area in a tan Cadillac. He is considered armed and dangerous, according to the sheriff's office, and is being charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm during violent crime and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Neighbors say this incident has them worried because of the amount of children that live in the area.

"The concern for me was the children - the babies that were outside - you know, running around, and there are little children running around playing," said one neighbor, Maxine Terrell. "The kids do walk and they walk up and down the street and so you know, you are concerned about certain things that go on."

Anyone with information about the case can call the sheriff's office at 803-648-6811 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
