GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville police said a father has been charged after a child was found wandering naked and alone at a local apartment complex.

Police spokesman Johnathan Bragg said the child appeared to be about 2 years old and was found outside at the Stonesthrow Apartment complex off of Century Circle about 10:30 a.m.

Bragg said dispatchers issued a reverse 911 call to residents in the area in an attempt to locate the parents, and officers were going door to door to figure out where the boy came from.

He said the child appeared to be OK, though he was found not fully dressed.

About two hours after he was first found by a resident, Bragg said the boy's parents were located. He said the parents were taken to the police department for questioning and the boy was taken into emergency protective custody.

Bragg said the child's father, Matthew Lee Hart, has been charged with cruelty to children.

According to Bragg, Hart did not admit to being asleep and didn't realize the child had left the apartment.
