Doctors Hospital breaks ground on CyberKnife center

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Doctors Hospital broke ground Tuesday afternoon on its latest endeavor in the medical field.

The CyberKnife center will open to patients starting in 2015, officials said.

"It's different than traditional radiation therapy in that it's delivered in a high dose per treatment, over a smaller number of treatments, whereas traditional radiation therapy is delivered in small doses per treatment, over many weeks," explained Dr. John G. Stewart.
