Elmo and Cookie Monster visit Children's Hospital

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Elmo and Cookie Monster from Sesame Street Live dropped by Children's Hospital of Georgia Tuesday.

Alicia Smith and her four-year-old son Reese were excited to meet the characters in person.

"Reese was born with multiple birth defects," Smith said. "The biggest thing was chronic kidney failure."

Smith said it made her day better just to know he saw something besides a hospital bed and an I.V. Reese has been in and out of the hospital since he was born, but Alicia was able to give him her kidney last year.

"It's just something a mother does for their child," Smith said. "You would do anything for your child."

Reese has several surgeries coming up, but Alicia said she sees the light at the end of the tunnel.

'Sesame Street Live' will be at the Bell Auditorium of the James Brown Arena until Wednesday, June 4th. You can order tickets online at www.georgialinatix.com or by phone at 1-877-4AUGTIX.
