AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Richmond County deputies are looking for a 42-year-old man who is suspected of stabbing a woman on Telfair Street on May 30.

David Johnathan Walker is wanted on arrest warrants for two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of possession of a knife during a crime.

The victim, Venisha Brown, told deputies she had been riding with Walker, who was an acquaintance, while running some errands. Brown had promised Walker some money for gas, so when they arrived at Telfair Street around 12:30 p.m., she gave him some cash.

The two started arguing over the amount, and Walker pulled out a small pocket knife and slashed Brown several times while trying to take more cash from her pockets, according to the sheriff's office.

A nearby resident tried to help Brown, deputies said. She was also threatened with the knife but was not injured.

Brown sustained cuts to both arms, which were not life threatening, and an additional amount of money was taken. David fled the scene in an older green Ford extended cab pickup truck with a possible SC license plate and tinted windows.

The vehicle was last seen driving west towards the downtown business district from Old Towne.

Anyone with information on Walker's whereabouts can contact the sheriff's office Criminal Investigation Division at 706-821-1020 or dispatch at 706-821-1080.
