Residents scared after shooting at James Brown Arena

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Two women are in the hospital after being shot outside the James Brown Arena Sunday night. The women had been at a privately held graduation party that was being held at the arena and was letting out around 11:00 p.m.  Both victims sustained non-life threatening injuries and are being treated at GRU.

Augusta resident Barbara Lowe says she's come to the arena before, and this came as a shock to her.

"It is very, very alarming. It's very scary," she says looking around the empty parking lot.

Lowe says she's cautious about coming out to the arena after the shooting.

"It's just like right here where the main things happen. You know, you have all the other surrounding locations and it makes you not want to plan anything or do anything here," says Lowe.

Richmond County deputies say they're looking for two suspects: two black males, one of a slender build and the other has a heavier build.

As a mother, this shooting shocked Lowe, especially because it happened after a graduation party.

"That would be the last thing on my mind to worry about, somebody getting shot after the graduation," she says.

And Lowe says she'll be back to the arena, it just may take some time.

"You can't live in fear, and you can't hide from everything because things happen everywhere, no matter where you are. But um, might slowly come back when there's something going on," she says.

The investigation is in the early stages and we will continue to update you with new information as we receive it.

Standing alongside Putin, Trump steered clear of any confrontation with the Russian, going so far as to question American intelligence and last week's federal indictments that accused 12 Russians of hacking into Democratic email accounts to hurt Hillary Clinton in 2016.
