The woman who died in a car crash Sunday evening was 55-year-old Kim M. Williams, according to the Aiken County Coroner's Office.
Kim Williams, who was from Windsor, S.C., was the passenger in a single-vehicle wreck that happened on East Frontage Road near Wire Road, according to the coroner's office.
The driver, who was Kim Williams' husband, Michael Williams, was driving a late-model Chevrolet S-10 truck west when he crossed into the eastbound lane on a curve, ran off the road and overturned several times.
Kim Williams was wearing her seatbelt, according to the coroner's office, but died from multiple body trauma. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators suspect that excessive speed and alcohol use were factors in the crash.
Aiken County EMS transported Michael Williams from the scene to a Lexington hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the Aiken County Detention Center, Williams is being charged with driving under the influence, causing death, driving with a suspended license, and driving with an open container.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT is investigating the crash. Toxicology results are pending.
