AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

A 28-year-old man is dead after the crane truck he was riding in Wednesday morning rolled over, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Eryc Jordan Riddle was a passenger in the truck traveling north on Skyview Drive around 7:30 a.m., deputies said. When the driver of the truck tried to turn left onto New Savannah Road, a mechanical failure caused it to roll over.

Riddle was pinned under the truck and was later pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

The intersection of Skyview Drive and New Savannah Road will be closed until about 2:30 p.m., deputies said. Drivers should seek an alternate route.

Deputies are investigating the accident.
