Aiken man wanted in shooting that injured 1 person

Aiken Public Safety investigators are looking for a 19-year-old man wanted in connection with a shooting that happened early Thursday. 

Kaelin Kearse has outstanding warrants for attempted murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and unlawful carrying of a firearm, according to the department.

Around 12:44 a.m., officers responded to Chatham Street where they found a man with a gunshot wound. The man was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center for treatment. 

Officers believe the shooting happened in the 500 block of Palm Drive. Officers said they believe that Kearse was the shooter.

Neighbors nearby said they were shocked.

"I was really, really shocked when the incident happened because it's a very safe neighborhood and it's a very, very quiet street,"Shannon Cribb said.
