Valdosta Girl Scout earns Gold Award

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A Valdosta Girl Scout was honored with the Gold Award.

Darla Dunning has been a girl scout for 13 years. The gold award is the highest honor a girl scout can earn and is recognized nationally by the military and colleges.

Dunning was responsible for renovating the St Francis food pantry in Lowndes County.

"My mother was also a girl scout and she became a leader. She brought me into this and I loved it from the start. She told me what it was and what it was about and now I want to continue and be a leader," says Girl Scout Darla Dunning.

Several other girl scouts were also recognized and presented with bronze and silver awards.
