PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Silent Witness needs the public's help in solving a murder after a woman was killed outside an apartment complex.

On April 18, Phoenix police officers found Donna Nez, 27, at an apartment complex in the area of 16th Avenue and Camelback Road about 10 p.m. with a gunshot wound.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died, a Phoenix police spokesman said.

Witnesses said they saw four black men and two black women running from the Camelot apartments after they heard gunshots, the spokesman said.

Police believe she knew her killer and want to talk with anyone who knew her.

Nez goes by the nickname "Shorty."

Separately, police are also on the lookout for Alejandro Valenzuela.

Police say they believe he is connected to an armed robbery in January at some apartments near 23rd Avenue and Indian School Road.

Investigators said Valenzuela was apparently trying to buy prescription pain pills and when the victim refused to sell him any, Valenzuela pulled out a gun and demanded the pills and money.

Valenzuela is described as Hispanic. He is 32 years old. He is 5'7" and weighs 140 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He took off in a blue vehicle driven by someone else.

Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (480-948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO.
