'Best Dam Bicycle Ride' to benefit Firefighters Burn Foundation

LAKE THURMOND (WFXG) -

The 11th Annual Best Dam Bicycle Ride starts Sunday morning at J. Strom Thurmond Lake at Clarks Hill Dam. 

The ride, sponsored by Chain Reaction Bicycles and Allegra Printing, benefits the Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation. 

Cyclists can choose between 25, 60, 80 and 100-mile road options. The mountain bike course on the historic Bartram Trail also will have multiple ride options ranging from five to 50 miles.

The Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) of the CSRA is hosting the ride. 

Registration begins at 7 a.m., and the race starts at 8:30 a.m.

To register, visit Chain Reaction Bicycles in Evans or go to www.active.com and search "Best Dam Ride." The cost is $35 per rider in advance or $40 per rider on the day of the event. Children under 12 may ride free.

Lunch, gift bags and rest stop refreshments will be provided to cyclists. T-shirts are guaranteed for those who pre-register by April 15. For more information call 706-650-BURN (2876).
