Jack Kingston stops in Augusta

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

One candidate in the upcoming Georgia senate race stopped in Augusta, Tuesday.

"The government is growing too big, too fast and taking away too many of our liberties," said Jack Kingston, who said this is precisely why he wants your vote in the Georgia United States Senate race.

"If we do not change the U.S. Senate, then we're going to lose the opportunities and freedoms that we have in America," Kingston said.

Kingston currently serves in the first congressional district, representing southern GA, in the U.S. House of Representatives but he says he is experienced and aware of issues all over the state. Including right here in the CSRA.

"What most people want, here, are jobs," said Kingston. "They want the opportunity to grow, to start a business or know the business that they are working for is going to be here tomorrow."

And he said he has a plan to undo the things that threaten those jobs.

"Less government regulation that closes down businesses. Things like Obamacare that's causing businesses to lay off people."

Kingston also said a vote for him would ensure a stronger military presence in the CSRA.

"It's so important for the national security picture when you think about cyber security and how we have to be on top of the technology and ahead of the bad guys on it. What's happening at Fort Gordon is not only relevant to Georgia but the entire national security picture of the United States."

Kingston spoke about pushing the government to reinstate funding for the MOX project and the expansion of GRU.
