LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Lauderdale County teen charged with more than 40 counts of child pornography went before a judge Tuesday.

The 19-year-old applied for youthful offender status because he was 18 at the time of the arrest and still eligible to apply.

Mykell Devon Ramsey is accused of sending child porn via his cell phone to a friend out-of-state. A Lauderdale County grand jury indicted him earlier this month on charges of dissemination of obscene matter, possession of obscene matter with intent to disseminate, and 41 counts of possession of child pornography.

It will now be up to a Lauderdale county judge to decide whether or not Ramsey qualifies for youthful offender status.
